I'll be in NYC next Week!

Hi to all my nyc running chicas!
MC and I are coming to NYC next Thursday. So before "ya'll" head out to the hamptons lets get together!!! WHEW WHO!

On another note...I feel like starting this blog has somewhat jinxed me! Memorial Day Weekend completely sucked. Saturday I went to the "minor emergency" room, because after a week of self medication, I still was pretty sick. And after a shot of penicillin in the rear, and a rx of vicadin [i didn't fill it]...talk about putting out a match with a fire extinguisher...I still am having alot of difficulty swallowing and my neck still hurts. Oh and I can't get in to see my new Dr until August 21st! Oh yeah, and Scouters woke me up at 6:45 this morning to poop and pee, She had so much poop in her fur that I had to cut some out! She then guzzled down some water and threw up in our bedroom!

So sick of not being able to run, I ran Tuesday and Wednesday - and today the knee is freakin killing me...I think its my body telling me that I'm over-doing it. So I'm taking today off, and I'm supposed to meet my trainer tomorrow to lift.

Hope your runs have been better than mine!

Off to camp

T minus 6 hours until summer is officially here...but who's counting?
After my rotten day at work yesterday (and a stop for new running shoes)- I took my angst outside to do a little therapy. It was beautiful out and which put a (very short lived) spring in my step. Since the NJ marathon, I've kept my runs to a minimum focusing on strength (hills, etc) so I decided to try 5 miles and see how I felt. The answer??
Not great.
I think the sole reason was my JV style nutrition/hydration plan yesterday. I repeat...JV. We're talking about 400 calories and no water from what I can remember. Yeek! Besides the cramping in my legs and growling in my stomach, I did enjoy it out there.
It must have been Friendie' Men/X-men in the Park day. In just 5 short miles I saw Bill, Dr.Dave and Rob. Luckily, Bill was the only one who saw me. Unluckily it happened to be during a moment of weakness (walking). I hate that "busted feeling."
Off we go to the wilds of East Hampton where we'll swim, bike and run to our hearts' content. I'm ready for some summer- farm stands, grilled meat, wine but am mostly looking forward to my book (Under the Banner of Heaven) and quiet time on the porch. I can't help but to imagine the line of New Yorkers waiting on the Jitney this afternoon as grown up versions of summer camp kids packing up to get shipped out.
Bon voyage!

Today I feel like a Floating Turd

For the past 5 days I have felt like a huge floating turd. This past weekend, I traveled to Harrisburg, PA for a good old fashioned family drunk fest (don't tell my cousin's new wife, that's what I am calling her otherwise beautiful wedding!).

I didn't take any running clothes, giving myself the weekend off to spend time with my family. I don't get to see them as often as I'd like.

But crap, since I've been back, I've been quite sick...which is oh so fun when it feels like its about 89 degrees out. Each day, I hope that I will feel better enough to go for a run, and hour by hour...no such luck. The day is about to get away from me again today. So maybe I should make a correction - I feel like a turd floating in warm water. cheers.

Come on in, the water is fine!

Welcome to friendie-land!

Enjoy the tales that are usually reserved for long runs

with the girls(and Jack.) If only the trees in Rutgers

could talk...oh- the stories they would tell!

Sadly, my true thoughts today are buried in a mangle of

spreadsheets,

packing lists &

cheesy wedding bands.

A nice long weekend at the beach will cure that- and if not, the wine will.

The natives are friendly in Friendie Land, so stay tuned.

Welcome to our Blog!!

We are inviting you into the secret world of our inner most thoughts, that we usually share loudly on our runs together. However, since RunninGirl moved away, she has been running alone, talking to herself, and on only rare occasions runs with her NYC running girls!
